- There are filters that can help enhance certain aspects of photos. Before the digital age, filters were used to create different effects, but now many of these can be easily recreated in your favorite photo editing software. However, there are a few filters such as a neutral density or a polarizing filter that are very difficult to recreate in software. Here is an example of a polarizing filter. It works similar to polarized sunglasses that reduce glare. In addition to reducing glare, it can really blend sky tones together. Notice how evenly the blue comes across the sky? There are other uses that I will try out later.
