- One of the cool things about Kyiv is the underground world. There are several malls that are entirely under the street. This is one of the entrances to Metrograd, a mall that takes maybe 15-20 minutes to walk end to end and has perhaps a hundred stores or so. Of course about 90 percent are these ludicrous shops selling 300 dollar designer European shirts and jeans. I still do not know who buys those things.
There is an underground mall in Washington DC as well if I remember correctly. It’s been a while. I love finding places where you wouldn’t normally expect them to be. It also reminds me of the shops on the LRT entrance and exit levels at certain downtown Edmonton stops.
