- There's nothing like a refreshing glass of water before bed. In North America, because we have such a rigid water sanitation regime, we often take for granted the importance, and often limited supply, of fresh drinking water. All our drinking water here runs through a reverse osmosis filter (a five-stage filtering process) before we drink it. Other Ukrainians buy bottled water or get it from natural artesian wells. The funny thing is, since we are so used to filtered water, it may be difficult to go back to "tap" water when we go home.
