- No, this is not the view from my room! For whatever reason, my room was on the Club Level and as a result, I had access to the club lounge and this was the view from there. I tried to get a night shot of the city, but it was just too difficult without a tripod and I couldn't get the camera steady enough. However, I did venture into the city tonight to visit Boyd, a friend who served in Russia with me. This trip required a shuttle to the train station, a 15 minute train ride, a transfer to the subway, and then a bit of a walk up to his apartment. The city reminded me so much of Kyiv! The apartments, the food vendors, the little shops, the traffic, and the sheer amount of people on the streets. It has been 7 years since we last saw each other (at his wedding) and it was awesome to see his growing family (he and Emily have two boys, about the same age as Kathryn and Amelia). I helped them with their bedtime routine and this made me miss my family, of course. Although we haven't had much contact in the last 7 years, it was like we picked up where we left off. It was fun to see how we have had similar experiences and challenges and are at similar points in our families and careers.
Is Boyd also an accountant?
He’s much less boring. Investment banker.
